August 13, 2020

Dear Parents or Guardians,

Welcome to a new year of Religious Education at St. Mary Magdalen Church. This letter provides the basic information and registration information for the Confirmation program at St. Mary Magdalen Church. Please complete the attached registration form and return it with your payment to the rectory or place it in the collection basket at Mass (in an envelope that is clearly marked “religious ed”).  All registrations are due on or before Friday, August 30, 2020.

Students entering grade 9 will register for Confirmation I. Students who are entering Grade 10 and who have completed Confirmation I will register for Confirmation II. The Confirmation classes will meet once each month on a Sunday morning from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. (including 10:30 a.m. Mass) in the church hall. Confirmation II students will also be required to attend a retreat and complete an interview with Father.

It is our hope that you will find this schedule helpful in planning your social activities or family events.  Since the number of Confirmation classes is minimal compared to the number of hours our children spend in sports, dance or other similar activities, we respectfully ask you to make the times scheduled for Religious Education a priority in your student(s) activities.  Attendance is mandatory; however, illness and emergencies can occur. A student will be offered two excused absences as long as parent or guardian contacts me to offer a reason for the student’s absence.

The goal of the Religious Education program at St. Mary Magdalen Church is to provide a foundation of the fundamentals of the Catholic faith for all our students, as well as, to promote faith practices in daily family life.  We encourage our parents to pray together as a family for your daily needs, to thank God for the gift of His love and care, and to celebrate the sacramental life of our Catholic faith.  It is a privilege to serve as your student(s) primary catechist and to assist you in their faith formation.

As always, if you have a question or concern, please call the Religious Education Office at 860-274-1955 or by our new email address at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Sincerely yours in Christ,
