2021 Confirmation Letter

April 7, 2021

Dear Parents/Guardians of 10th grade students,

We have been granted the permission and delegation by the Archdiocese of Hartford to confirm the candidates in our local parish. This allows us to move forward with scheduling Confirmation events for the month of April and May.

We will begin with a Retreat for Confirmation students that will take place on Sunday, April 25th, from 12:00 to 5:00 pm, at Saint Mary, Magdalen Church. We will have lunch, 12:00-1:00 pm followed by a 4 hour retreat from 1:00-5:00 pm led by Bryan Mercier.  Lunch will consist of pre-made, pre-packaged sandwiches.

Bryan Mercier is a Catholic speaker, Retreat leader, YouTuber, and an author. He has given retreats for over 20 years for Confirmation programs, Catholic schools and parishes. He is the author of two books and has appeared on TV and radio including, Sirius XM Satellite Radio, Ave Maria Radio, Relevant Radio, and EWTN.

The retreat will also include a holy hour from 4:00 – 5:00 pm, during which the students will take part in the Sacrament of confession. It is mandatory for all who receive the Sacrament of Confirmation to go to confession.

We are including here a guide to confession to help your child properly prepare for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

During the retreat we will be taking all the necessary precautions to ensure everyone’s safety, such as social distancing, wearing masks, and hand sanitizing.

The Confirmation Masses will take place Thursday, May 20th and Friday, May 21st at 7:00 pm. We have split the 10th grade into two groups as we have a restricted capacity.

We will send a link to sign your child up for a preferred date. Each of the days has a total of 13 spots.

Please make sure to come at 6:45 pm by using the side door. Each student can bring up to 5 guests; parents/guardians and sponsor included. Please make sure to occupy only one pew per family as no overflow will be allowed.  Masks are required throughout the entire ceremony.
