Parish News and Events

awm2017The tradition of the lighting of the Advent wreath is a powerful ritual which ties families and generations together. The circular wreath is enhanced with four candles- usually three purple and one rose colored (this one symbolizes that Jesus is very near.) A candle is lit each week in anticipation of Christmas. Lighting the candles(s) in darkness is a powerful experience and delivers the strong message that Christ is the Light of the World.

Please join us on SATURDAY, December 2nd after the 4pm Vigil Mass in the church hall as we come together for an Advent Workshop that will feature making an Advent wreath for each family and an Advent reflection with a wreath blessing by Fr. Tom Hickey. Sign up at the entrances of the Church or call the parish office at 860-274-9273. Pre-registration is necessary along with $5.00 fee per family. Hot Chocolate & Cookies will be served.

Join us for a 10 week small-group retreat that that brings “little souls” closer to

the heart of Jesus through the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius made simple. This retreat is based on the popular book by Fr. Michael Gaitley, MIC, Consoling the Heart of Jesus. This program gives us an awareness of God's infinite mercy and how we can give Him joy, showing us the way to console His heart by accepting His love and trusting in Him completely. It also focuses on what to do with the suffering we all encounter, helping us grow spiritually closer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

The retreat will take place on Wednesdays October 4th to December 6 from 7:00-8:00PM in the rectory meeting room. Please RSVP by September 25th to order materials ($12).
